Ice Music is an Escandinavian music group that uses frozen water to create instruments and perform magic concerts. The designer is Tim Linhart from the United States. He does this job in a personalized manner, all instruments are tailor-made.
Tim Linhart sculpts by hand this instruments and calls them ICEstruments, he illuminatesthem from the inside to simulate the famous Northern Lights. Instruments are forged from blocks of ice creating violins, violas, violoncellos, banjos, xylophones…etc. Everything is created for the purpose; the concerts and its musicians. As we have already stated they are illuminated from the inside and with the help of videos and projections they achieve a fresh and cozy atmosphere that seems from outer space.
Ice Music is located in the Swedish Laponia. We can obviously distinguish the Northern influences characterized by the love for Winter. Concerts are done inside caves which are covered with ice, the mix of this with the music and illumination simulates a cosmic igloo that doesn’t leave anyone indifferent.
