At ITV we are committed to you, we work with innovation, dynamism, sustainability, and commitment to society and to our team.
In today’s article we are going to talk about the Ice Plan project, in which one of our clients, the company Cleanep, which offers technological solutions based on solar energy, is participating.
This humanitarian project is led by the organisation M’Bolom, an association formed by immigrants from Gambia-Senegal and Catalans who have visited Africa, committed to working together for the development of these communities under the principles of respect, autonomy, grassroots participation and sustainability.
Installations
Currently, they are carrying out installations in the small port of Kartong, on the Gambia River, next to Senegal, for projects of the United Nations.
In this river, both men and women work every day with basins to collect and later sell fresh fish.
Solidarity act
At ITV we have wanted to contribute our grain of sand by carrying out various solidarity acts, since we feel that our company philosophy and our values are in line with this project.
Multi-platform
Recently, a solar multi-platform with an ice-making plant, called “ICE PLANT”, has been erected in front of the port.
This plant is a bio construction of blocks of pressed earth and with photovoltaic panels on the roof, along with an autonomous solar water treatment plant that supplies electricity and drinking water to the community from a brackish water well.
The multi-platform ICE PLAN offers the energy produced to power:
- A grain mill
- Washing machines
- Refrigerators
- Freezers
- Solar dryers
- Processing space
- Solar ovens
All this improves the quality of life of the community, giving women much more time to mechanize the tasks that were previously done manually, and improving their economic life.
Training
Cleanep is a company that has specialized in the production of ice with solar energy and has trusted us to use, in this case, our SCALA 2000 and our SCALA 400, both in this multi-platform and in other solar multi-platforms.
But due to the fact that they do not have refrigeration technicians who are in charge of maintaining the machines, we wanted to open a collaboration by providing them with training on the machinery so that they know how to recharge it correctly.
Benefits
Thanks to all our machinery, this month’s installation and our initiative, the daily production of ice for the fishermen of the port of Kartong in The Gambia has already begun, all done with solar energy.
“The union of the production of solar electric energy with our ice machines has been a challenge for us, but despite the difficulties, the project has evolved greatly“
This has been made known to us by those responsible for the United Nations office in the area.
We wanted to make a special mention of this case, since it is very important within our company philosophy to participate in this type of solidarity projects.
Next we are going to show you a photographic report on how the project is going in Gambia.
