La magia del hielo es uno de los grandes atractivos de nuestro planeta. Formas imposibles creadas por la naturaleza nos han hecho enmudecer y viajar a otros puntos la Tierra con tal de disfrutar de tales espectáculos. Sin embargo, también el hombre ha sabido jugar y modelar el hielo a su gusto, hasta el punto de crear hoteles, bares y esculturas realmente llamativas.
En ese grupo de iniciativas esta nuestra propuesta de destino de hielo de hoy. Se trata del Chillout Lounge que está situado en la cálida ciudad de Dubái. Ya solo por el atractivo contraste entre el calor del desierto y el frío del local, vale la pena visitarlo. Está situado en el llamado ‘Times Square Center’ de la capital de los Emiratos Árabes y se trata del primer salón de hielo en el Medio Oriente, según se anuncia en su página web.
El local fue inaugurado en el año 2007, y es un espacio diseñado a base de hielo donde todos los elementos como paredes, mesas, platos o vasos están elaborados con este material. En el chillout se puede tomar un refresco a -6ºC aunque el establecimiento dispone de soluciones para paliar la gélida sensación ambiental, como ropa térmica, abrigos o guantes de lana para los clientes.
Otra de las curiosidades del local es que disponen también de una zona de amortiguación, a 5 grados, para aclimatarse y permitir que el cuerpo se adapte a las bajas temperaturas. Además, en el interior hay un completo menú gracias al cual podrás degustar alguno de los platos que se sirven en el restaurante del complejo como sopas, sándwiches, chocolate caliente, café o té que, además de estar sabrosos, te harán entrar en calor.

The magic of ice is one of the great appeals of our planet. Impossible shapes created by nature have mesmerised us and have made us travel to other spots in the globe to enjoy the views. However, humans have also been able to play with ice and have shaped it to their liking, to the point of creating really appealing hotels, bars and sculptures.
Our ice destination of today is in line with these proposals. It is the Chillout Lounge, located in the warm Dubai City. Only for the contrast between the heat of the desert and the cold of the bar it is worth the visit. It is located in the so-called ‘Times Square Center’ of the Arab Emirates capital city, and it is the first ice bar in the Middle East, according to its website.
The place was opened in 2007, and everything in it, walls, tables, dishes or cups, is made of ice. In the chillout area you can have a soft drink at -6ºC although the bar has solutions to tackle the cold environment, like thermal clothes, coats or woollen gloves for visitors.
As a curiosity, the place has an acclimatisation area, at 5 degrees, to allow the body to adapt to low temperatures. Besides, they offer a menu where you can have soups, sandwiches, hot chocolate, coffee or tea that, apart from being really tasty, will help you warm up.
