Con solo ver las fotos ya parece que nos salimos de la realidad. Estamos en una pel\u00edcula, en la imagen de un cuento de hadas. O eso parece, pero no. Es Harbin,<\/strong> una ciudad de China que desde 1963 acoge cada a\u00f1o uno de los principales festivales de esculturas de hielo y nieve que se celebran en el mundo.<\/strong> Quiz\u00e1 solo lo puedan supere o igualar los festivales de Sapporo (Jap\u00f3n), el Carnaval de Quebec (Canad\u00e1) o la fiesta del esqu\u00ed de Noruega.<\/p>\n

Sin duda, cuando esta ciudad se transforma, se convierte en uno de los atractivos tur\u00edsticos m\u00e1s impresionantes del gigante asi\u00e1tico. Hasta all\u00ed se desplazan miles de turistas de dentro y fuera del pa\u00eds. \u00bfY cu\u00e1ndo se celebra?<\/strong> Suele ser nada m\u00e1s arrancar el a\u00f1o y se prolonga hasta casi marzo.<\/p>\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo lo hacen?\u00a0<\/strong>En principio, es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de lo que parece. Al menos en lo que iluminaci\u00f3n se refiere. Cuando se acerca la fecha, cientos de esculturas hechas con bloques de hielo son iluminadas con luces LED<\/strong> para darle m\u00e1s vida. Esto crea un aut\u00e9ntico espect\u00e1culo que cada a\u00f1o moviliza a m\u00e1s de 7 000 artistas,<\/strong> entre los que sobresalen los mejores escultores de hielo de China.<\/p>\n

Lo m\u00e1s sorprendente de todo es averiguar que las piezas miden m\u00e1s de 26 metros de altura y 117 metros de ancho.<\/strong>\u00a0Estas figuras suelen representar diferentes asuntos relacionados con pa\u00edses, culturas y estilos, as\u00ed como animales y aspectos m\u00edsticos. Normalmente se elaboran con tecnolog\u00eda muy variada que va desde el moderno l\u00e1ser al tradicional farol de hielo.<\/p>\n

De hecho, en esta ciudad se registr\u00f3 en el libro Guiness de los R\u00e9cords la escultura de nieve m\u00e1s grande del mundo: 250 metros de longitud y un volumen de 13.000 metros c\u00fabicos de nieve.<\/strong> La obra constaba de dos partes, las Cataratas del Ni\u00e1gara y el Cruce del Estrecho de Bering.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s de disfrutar del paisaje, en la ciudad se pueden hacer miles de deportes, actividades y planes para pasarlo en grande.<\/strong> Incluso se montan toboganes de colores que garantizan que vuelvas a casa con una sonrisa.<\/p>\n

Ice Destinations: Harbin, a Fairy Tale City<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Just looking at the pictures it looks like we are out of reality. We are in a movie, into a fairy tale. But it’s only an illusion. What you see is\u00a0Harbin,<\/strong>\u00a0a Chinese city that\u00a0since 1963 holds one of the main ice sculpture festivals in the world.<\/strong>\u00a0It can only be compared to Sapporo Festival (Japan), Quebec Winter Carnival (Canada) or Holmenkollen Ski Festival (Norway).<\/em><\/p>\n

When this city transforms, it is, no doubt, one of the most amazing tourist attractions from the Asian giant. Thousands of tourist from in and out the country go there.\u00a0When is it held?<\/strong>\u00a0It usually starts at the beginning of the year and lasts almost until March.<\/em><\/p>\n

How do they do it?\u00a0<\/strong>It is easier than it seems. At least as for lighting. When it is time, hundreds of sculptures made out of ice blocks are lighted with\u00a0<\/strong>LED lights<\/strong>\u00a0to make them livelier. This creates a spectacular environment that moves each year\u00a0<\/strong>more than 7,000 artists,<\/strong>\u00a0among whom you can find China’s best ice sculptors.<\/em><\/p>\n

What will amaze you the most is that\u00a0sculptures are more than 26 metres high and 117 metres wide.<\/strong>\u00a0These sculptures usually represent countries, cultures and styles, as well as animals and mystic recreations. They are crafted with different techniques that range from laser cuts to the traditional ice lantern.<\/em><\/p>\n

In fact, this city entered\u00a0<\/strong>the Guinness Book of Records with the biggest snow sculpture in the world: 250 metres long and a volume of 13,000 cubic metres of snow.<\/strong>\u00a0The sculpture had two parts, Niagara Falls and the Bering Strait crossing.<\/em><\/p>\n

Apart from enjoying the landscape, the city offers a myriad of sports, activities and\u00a0plans for having a great time.<\/strong>\u00a0There are even coloured ice toboggans that guarantee you’ll go back home with a smile.<\/em><\/p>\n
